Fuelman Fuel Card Alternatives

Fuelman, a FLEETCOR subsidiary, produces and distributes various types of fuel cards that can be used at any one of the 57,000 Fuelman accepting locations nationwide. With 10 cards in their stock, Fuelman has a lot of purchasing power to offer you as a customer and fuel account manager. Perhaps most noticeably, is the usability Fuelman has at both local cardlocks and national retailers. In addition, Fuelman also has several control options that allow you the account manager to safely oversee the use of your cards. With 180,000 accepting locations, WEX is rivaled only by Voyager (who we’ll get to in a moment) when it comes to who’s accepted more nationwide. Which of these locations, 20,000  are maintenance service providers. Beyond its apparent purchasing power, WEX cards also offer a high level of control. Allowing you, the fuel account manager to control exactly how your cards are used. Then at the end of each month, you’ll receive a report telling you exactly how, when, where and by who your card was used in addition to the real-time alerts you’ll receive every time a purchase is made.

CFN

CFN is accepted at the 57,000 stations and cardlocks nationwide that are a part of the CFN network. Again, 57,000 accepting locations pales in comparison to the hundreds of thousands of accepting locations other companies have to boast but just like Fuelman, don’t count CFN out just yet. Similar to Fuelman, CFN allows it’s account managers an extremely high level of control. Offering six control types, many of which can be personally customized i.e. time of day limits you’ll get to decide how much fuel is purchased when, where and by who. In addition, CFN also offers time of purchase e-receipts. With these, you’ll not only know immediately how your card is being used but you’ll be able to make immediate adjustments and corrections if necessary.

However, certain fuel card providers include fees with the purchase of a CFN Fuel Card adding various costs to your monthly expense.

Accepted at 160,000 locations nationwide, which means that the Comdata MasterCard comes in third on our list in regards to acceptability. However, in terms of controls the Comdata MasterCard takes last place. Offering only end of the month reporting, you aren’t afforded any proactive control over your card and how it is used with Comdata. You do however have the ability to retroactively control your cards’ use by using the end of the month reporting and tracking your companies purchases.
