The question we always get is how much can I save with a CFN fuel card? This concept of daily price market fluctuations and not paying the posted pump price at CFN locations is foreign to most people.
So how much can you save when using a CFN fuel card? Let’s start out by comparing regular gas station prices to CFN prices.
Step 1:Find Retail Gas Station Prices For Your Area
The first step is to get an idea of what you are paying at regular gas stations and truck stops in your area. There are two main resources for gathering retail price data for your area.
The first is AAA Gas Prices which shows the average retail prices by fuel type for a selected area.
The second is GasBuddy which reports live user posted prices for gas stations near you.
So you pull the data from these two sites to get an idea of what you would be paying at regular gas stations in your area. Here’s an example for diesel in Los Angeles, CA.
Step 2: Get CFN Pricing Data For Your Area
Finding CFN pricing is a little more complicated since it varies by CFN card issuing company and customer account. You would need to get a quote from a CFN fuel card provider.
Our CFN fuel price finder will show you recent estimated prices for some locations or you can request a fuel quote and we’ll send you 30 days of pricing for your closest CFN station.
Step 3: Compare Retail Fuel Stations Prices to CFN Pricing
The last step is to simply compare the CFN fuel quote with the retail fuel pricing you gathered from GasBuddy and AAA. Make sure you are matching up the fuel data for the exact dates as fuel pricing can change on a daily basis.
You can also use the CFN cost savings calculator to help estimate your CFN savings.
*Helpful tip: Make sure the fuel quote you receive from the CFN fuel card provider is final price with all taxes included
