How to track Onsite Tank Fuel Use with Fuel Cloud

What FuelCloud Is

One would think that the easiest fuel purchase to record would be one made from your own tank, but as many companies have realized that simply is not the case. Often times, companies with their own fuel pumps rely on their drivers to record purchases. Which indelibly leads to all sorts of different errors, as drivers make incorrect recordings, lose the recordings they made or forget to make one at all. Which as a result leads to unreliable recordings, and ultimately loss of company money. So what’s a company to do? Well, many have turned to cutting edge technology, from companies like Fuel Cloud for help.

Fuel Cloud, a company founded in 2015, has created a product just larger than a shoe box that seeks to fix the very problem we’ve been discussing. Making use of “the cloud” just like any other smartphone or tablet, Fuel Cloud’s CloudBox keeps track of purchases made at your onsite fuel pump. So why is this so cool? Here’s why. Because the CloudBox stores all of its data in the cloud, the CloudBox can afford to be nearly entirely wireless. Which means that it not only takes up less space, but that it costs less money too. In fact, in comparison to more traditional legacy set-ups the CloudBox can cost up to 10x’s less!!

In addition to its small frame and cost effective price point, CloudBox is also wonderfully easy to install. A simple two step process, all the CloudBox requires in order to be installed is a Wifi connection and a physical mounting onto the pump. However, it must be said that one CloudBox receives and stores information for only one pump at a time. So it is likely that for most fuel station managers multiple installations will be required.

Several companies all over the U.S. have already begun installing CloudBoxs, many of whom who have reported hundreds of dollars worth of savings and a higher level of control than they had before. How to Use Fuel Cloud to track Fuel Use

The Fuel Cloud set-up has two halves to it, the hardware which is represented by the CloudBox we’ve discussed, and the software that accompanies it. This software I am referring to of course is the Fuel Cloud App, and it is the reason I believe Fuel Cloud is so special.

An app for everyone from the fleet manager to the driver, the Fuel Cloud App is as useful as it gets. So what does the app do? Well by using the cloud,  the App connects to the CloudBox mounted onto your onsite pumps. Which means that all of the purchase information that CloudBox is storing can be accessed from your phone! Making it more convenient than ever before for fleet managers to track fuel purchases. Which is only the half of it, because the app can both send and receive information to the CloudBox. So drivers, instead of needing to use fuel cards can make puchases right from their phone!
