How Pacific Pride Fuel Prices Work

When you pull into a Pacific Pride fuel station, you will probably notice that there is one thing missing at the pump, the price. The price is missing because Pacific Pride is a “cost plus” based network which is very similar to the CFN network (Commercial Fueling Network) as opposed to a “retail” network.

A cost plus network is different from a retail network is because the cost plus fuel network itself determines the cost for fuel not the individual gas station attendant who will post a price at the pump.

Here’s how Pacific Pride fuel prices work based off a cost plus pricing structure.

“Cost”

There are three parts that makeup Pacific Pride network’s cost; fuel cost, transportation cost, and network interchange cost.

1. Fuel Cost

Pacific Pride uses the previous day’s OPIS (Oil Price Information Services) average rack price for the rack that a Pacific Pride station sources its fuel from. The rack is the place where gas stations get their fuel from.

2. Transportation Cost

Pacific Pride assigns a freight cost to every site based on how close a site is from the closest rack which makes up for the fuel transportation cost.

3. Network Interchange Cost

Network station interchange is a margin the Pacific Pride station makes on the fuel they sell.

“Plus”

“Plus” is simply the margin your Pacific Pride vendor charges you per gallon to use their card. Every Pacific Pride card provider sets their own  margins so prices can differ from one Pacific Pride fuel card company to another.

Pacific Pride Fuel Prices Formula

Once piece together all the parts of Pacific Pride fuel prices and add the applicable taxes, you will get this equation. Pacific Pride Fuel Prices = OPIS rack average + freight rate + fuel use margin + fuel card providers margin + tax

Pacific Pride Fuel Network Alternative: The CFN Network

If there’s not a Pacific Pride location near you, you may want ton consider using the CFN network. The CFN network is almost identical to the Pacific pride network, it just has about twice the amount of cardlock locations.
