T-Chek was a very popular fuel card that was primarily used by over the road (OTR) trucking fleets.
T-Check was acquired by EFS in October 2012. EFS was then acquired by WEX in July 2016. It was reported that WEX purchased EFS to expand its reach into the OTR market. WEX also planned to utilize the features EFS/T-Chek has to its own platform.
To add to all this WEX also acquired Fleet One in 2012 which was also an OTR focused fuel card.
So now T-Check, EFS, and Fleet One are all owned by WEX which means if you want to sign up for a T-Chek fuel card you would need to contact WEX.
T-Check Fuel Card Alternatives
Now that three popular OTR fuel cards are owned by the same company, there is a very small list of alternative fuel cards to compare with WEX.
One alternative would be the Voyager fuel card which is a U.S. Bank product issued by Voyager distributors which Voyager calls Channel Partners. Voyager touts one of the largest fuel networks in the U.S. which has over 320,000 accepting locations.
Voyager is known for its robust online portal called Fleet Commander Online which supports companies such as USPS, Amazon DSP’s, and the Department of Defense.
Comdata is FleetCor’s OTR option that competes with T-Chek. Similar to T-Chek, Comdata was purchased by FleetCor in 2014 as FleetCor’s attempt to expand into the OTR market.
Fuelman like Comdata is also owned by FleetCor and is accepted at 65,000 locations nationwide.
